We are having a xmas party and we all have to bring a dish. here is the fun part there are no stoves to heat it up. It seems that must people are bringing a cold dish or a crock pot dish. Any ideas??? thanks

Quails’ eggs. Boil the eggs for about 1 minute and serve on a bed of cress with celery salt. Nobody else will have thought of it.
NB you need to peel them.
Hi Bee, I’m back. I’m not kidding, you should try them, they are always really popular when I take them to places. A nice mouthful, and unusual without being fiddly or expensive. In the UK it’s traditional to serve them with celery salt, but the watercress really sets them off.

Anyway–
If you have a crockpot, that is great!
If you don’t, make a pasta salad of some sort.
This is my fave:
1 box orzo cooked to al dente
1 package good feta cheese
1 can canellini white beans, rinsed
1 tsp. chopped garlic
Olive oil
Juice from 1 lemon
Salt
Diced tomatoes
Chopped Parsley
Toss it all togehter and chill. Its a HIT!

Garden Pasta Salad
1 (16 ounce) package uncooked tri-color spiral pasta
1/2 cup thinly sliced carrots
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced
2 large tomatoes, diced
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 (16 ounce) bottles Italian-style salad dressing
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Cook pasta in large pot of boiling water until al dente. Rinse under cold water, and drain.
Mix chopped carrots, celery, cucumber, green pepper, tomatoes, and onion together in large bowl.
Combine cooled pasta and vegetables together in large bowl. Pour Italian dressing over mixture, add Parmesan cheese and mix well.
Chill for one hour before serving.

Deviled Eggs
6 eggs
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
Place eggs in a pot of salted water. Bring the water to a boil, and let eggs cook in boiling water until they are hard boiled, approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Drain eggs, and let cool.
Cut eggs in half, lengthwise. Remove the egg yolks and mash them together in a small mixing bowl. Mix in the paprika, mayonnaise, and dry mustard. Spoon mixture into the egg shells, cool and serve

Party Sub Sandwich
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 loaf unsliced French bread, halved lengthwise
6 slices deli ham
6 slices provolone cheese
1 (4.5 ounce) jar sliced mushrooms, drained
2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
2 banana peppers, thinly sliced
2 cups shredded lettuce
Spread cream cheese on bottom half of bread. Layer with the ham, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes if desired, onion, peppers and lettuce. Replace top. Cut into 1-1/2-in. slices.

Thai Salad
2 packages Ramen noodles – crushed – do not use seasoning packet
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup slivered almonds
½ cup (I stick) butter/margarine
Sauté all above until golden, set aside to cool
Chop 1 head Napa cabbage
Chop 1 bunch green onions
Dressing: Mix together:
1 cup oil
1 cup sugar
½ cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Combine all ingredients just before serving

Appetizer Wreath Recipe
Serves/Makes: 16
Ingredients:
2 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon dill weed
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cup chopped fresh broccoli florets
1 cup finely chopped celery
1/2 cup finely chopped sweet red pepper
Celery leaves
Directions:
Remove crescent dough from packaging (do not unroll). Cut each tube into eight slices. Arrange in an 11-in. circle on an ungreased 14-in. pizza pan. Bake at 375° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before carefully removing to a serving platter; cool completely.
In a small mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, dill and garlic powder until smooth. Spread over wreath; top with broccoli, celery and red pepper. Form a bow garnish with celery leaves.
B-L-T Bites Recipe
16 cherry tomatoes
1 pound bacon — cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup chopped green onions
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons snipped fresh parsley
Directions:
Cut a thin slice off the top of each tomato top. Scoop out and discard pulp. Invert the tomatoes on a paper towel to drain.
In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; mix well. Spoon into tomatoes. Refrigerate for several hours.
