Bought lots of cheese, pates, pickles, chutneys and crackers to eat over Christmas. I over estimated how much we’d eat and I still have a HUGE amount left. I don’t want to throw it out so was wondering how I can use it? Can I freeze? Do you have an recipes where it is filtered to a small amount?

I don’t want to just keep eating it through January with crackers as I really, really need to eat better. I started experiencing chest pain earlier in the year. I am only 20 but weighed 14 stone and am 5ft3. I was getting stabbing pains in my left breast and was struggling to breathe in. I cut out all the neccessary bad foods and now weigh 12st 10 (still losing though). Over xmas I let the diet go and have since had more heart pains so need to get back on this diet tomorrow, so I can’t have cheese.

What should I do?

You can freeze the cheese, or if you have a recipe that includes cheese then just cut the amount of the cheese in 1/2.

Will you be going over to anyone else’s place over the holidays?

If so, then make up a large festive platter with all those goodies.

People love it when you bring food over, especially when they don’t have to prepare it.

Get it out of your house, spread it around if you catch my drift.

Yes you can freeze cheese, but it is best used for inside omelets or cooking.

Make something that uses a lot of cheese, and give it away to a friends family :o). I would love to not have to make dinner one night! Make some macaroni and cheese (homemade), or cheese enchiladas… It all depends on the type of cheese you have… I’m in the US, so our food probably differs from what you might enjoy, but allrecipes.com has some great ideas if you just type in cheese in the search box. Good Luck… I’m having the same issue with turkey- 16lb. turkey for 3 adults and 6 kids? what was I thinking?

Donate the cheese to a shelter that feeds the homeless. You will be doing a good deed, getting rid of the cheese, and saving your self.

You can freeze the cheese and use later to grate, shred or use in a recipe. It will not be good as just “eating” cheese, the texture will change. Better to not consume a lot of cheese if you are concerned with your heart health.

Yes, you can freeze cheese, it might crumble easily when thawed but it will be fine for cooking. Please don’t through it away, fix up plates and take it to the neighbors house, or the large family on the corner, or the little old lady down the street, etc. In addition, cheese isn’t great when you are on a diet, but if you are trying to eat healthy and change your lifestyle, which in the long run is what you need to do be healthy, a little cheese will provide the dairy (and calcium) you need, and it is not “bad fat”, you should skip the crackers though. Good luck and best wishes.
